MANCHESTER, N.H. April 21, 2016 - Northern Pass Transmission LLC has secured agreements with a highly experienced team of contractors and material suppliers who will execute the engineering, design and construction of the Northern Pass transmission line once the project receives state and federal permits.
Hysteria, rhetoric and falsehoods aside, New Hampshire needs the Northern Pass project. New Hampshire businesses and residents pay the sixth highest electricity costs in the nation and the only change on the horizon is higher prices.
The goal of this Hydro-Québec TransÉnergie project is to increase the energy interchange capacity between Québec and New England by building an interconnection to link Québec's power grid with New Hampshire's. The line, whose commissioning is slated for 2019, will therefore be used to export electricity to the U.S.A.
